Hypothetical Situation
by TR inwhen you were a child, say, 6 to 10 years old, you were molested by a friend's dad several times.
suddenly, they move, not to be be seen again, until.... thirty five years later.
you see the perv with his son(your childhood friend) at a store.

TR, I really don't know. Recently a friend told me about a person she knew who was a pedophile and had been through treatment, he would take steps to not be alone with children. He knew he had a problem, and he knew he had to take responsibility. I gotta think its like alcoholism, its a compulsion or something, some of these people must feel some measure of guilt or remorse, others could care less. I am not trying to defend them or minimize their actions. They may never be cured, but at least they might be trying to do something. Look at the guy who wrote to Dear Abby, looking for help, and she turned him in.

No Apologies
I thought I was a healthy, normal, well-balanced individual with no issues, but after getting the issue out in the open, I realized I do need to work through some things. It was just a suggestion.
I suggested confronting the perp for the same reason, it might make you feel better to stand up to this creep and say, "I know what you did." What if the person admitted to it and agreed to get help? Not that I care about him, but if it stops further abuse of others... Either way, you get to have your say. But I am not an expert.

Call child protections services and let them handle it. There may be no other options, statute of limitations may apply as far as pressing charges. Confronting the perp may be helpful, may not. Finding a therapist could also help.

Alligator,
they are already making a shepherding call? you might be moving a little too fast. the key to the successful fade is keep it gradual. If you write a resignation letter and quit going to meetings and quit service all within a month you are asking for trouble. Patience, my young apprentice.
I would advise keeping the same healthful spiritual routine until you actually have sucessfully resigned as an MS.
If they visit, thank them for their concern. Serve treats if possible. Work has kept you busy, some illness maybe, possibly just a little depressed, any of these are good. When they encourage you to keep up your meeting attendance, participation, and field service, look sheepish, admit you have been slipping, and agree to try harder. Do not under any circumstances mention any kind of doubts you are experiencing. Then go to the next meeting and make a comment or two.
Its called Theocratic warfare.

The other day I called an elder and explained some of his shortcomings and how they had had a negative impact on my family. He had little to say and did dispute what I had to say.
Yesterday we received flowers and a card, with an APOLOGY! He acknowedged he had acted poorly, partly because of issues in his own life, and was very sorry.
So now I feel just a teensy bit bad about the whole deal. Not that I am letting him off the hook, everything I said to him was true. If he was unable to help us, he should have talked to the PO and handed some of his responsibilities. But at least he is not the complete jerk I considered him to be.
But I ain't changing my handle!

Actually it is about every 3 or 4 months. And the one next month will be the last. It will be replaced with an oral review under the new Theocratic Ministry School arrangement. So I hope you are all looking forward to that as much as I am!

Why Worldly Standards are Superior

world a peaceful happy place.
let's examine that claim:.

another excellent post Metatron. Some months ago, my wife pointed out a
newspaper editorial where the writer compared living under the Taliban
to waking up and finding out Jehovah's Witnesses had taken over the
country. She could not understand the analogy. The more I thought about
it, though, the more I saw how accurate the comparision was.

Reading the thread about declining attendance got me thinking. What happened to Theocratic News? You remember, that little box in the KM with exciting stats about countries most dubs could not find on a map. At one time it was a monthly item, now it seems to have disappeared. Last year I went looking and had to go back to a 1997 km to find it. Has it been seen since? I guess its only news when the numbers are going up???
I am referring to the US edition, don't know about others.

What Era Would You Like To Have Lived In?
by DakotaRed inbesides the one we are currently in, i mean.. for me, i feel a strong draw back to the late 1930s and early 1940s.
as i get older, i find myself enjoying the big band sound even more than i ever did, as well as the movies and radio programs of the era.
for some reason, the appeal to that era stops about mid ww2.

You all seem to think the past was just like the movies. You seem to overlook all the bad things of the past. Slavery. Wars, famines. Women basically were property of their husbands, most of them died giving birth. No indoor plumbing. As witnesses, we were always being told how we were living in one of the worst times in history, and that man would probably destroy himself if God didn't step in. What a load of crap. Me, I want to live in an era somewhere in the future, where we are not stuck here on one little planet. Do you realize how may medical advances are coming along very shortly? Our grandkids will live to be at least 100, and probably longer. They will colonize Mars, and move out past our solar system.
Assuming the whole planet doesn't get wiped out by nukes or an asteriod.
